Our Commitment

At Cutting Edge Theatre Company, we believe theatre has the power to inspire change. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and making sustainable choices wherever possible, ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy and create theatre.

Sustainability is a shared responsibility, and we encourage our staff, creatives, volunteers, audiences and partners to work with us in protecting the environment.

Our Aims

We will:

  • Reduce waste and recycle wherever possible.

  • Reuse, repair and repurpose costumes, props and set materials before purchasing new items.

  • Consider sustainable materials and suppliers whenever practical.

  • Reduce energy and water consumption across our activities.

  • Minimise unnecessary printing by using digital communication where possible.

  • Encourage environmentally friendly travel for staff, volunteers and audiences where practical.

  • Continually review our working practices to identify opportunities to reduce our environmental impact.

Productions

When producing theatre, we will strive to:

  • Reuse existing scenery, costumes and props wherever possible.

  • Design productions with sustainability in mind.

  • Responsibly dispose of or store materials for future use.

  • Encourage creative teams to consider environmentally responsible solutions throughout the production process.

Working Together

We encourage everyone involved with Cutting Edge Theatre Company to contribute ideas that help us become more sustainable. By working together, we can make small changes that have a lasting positive impact.

Reviewing Our Progress

This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains effective and reflects the company's ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility. As our organisation grows, we will continue to develop new ways to reduce our environmental footprint and support a more sustainable future for theatre.
